Chondroxid, gel 5% 30 g

Khondroksid® gel has a combined effect:

• delays the progression of osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis;
• has a pain relieving effect;
• powers anti-inflammatory action;
• stimulates restoration of articular cartilage;
• improves joint mobility;
• reduces joint swelling.

Due to the optimal combination of the gel components is noted their mutual reinforcement of analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Application of the preparation Hondroksid ® gel can reduce the dose of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Chondroxid® contains a natural component – chondroitin sulfate (a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide) that participates in cartilage tissue building. Chondroitin sulfate:

– improves phosphorus-calcium metabolism in cartilage;

– reduces the activity of enzymes that destroy cartilage;

– Inhibits cartilage degeneration (destruction) processes;

– stimulates synthesis of glycosaminoglycans;

– prevents collapse of the connective tissue.

This leads to a decrease in pain and increased mobility of the affected joints.

Pharmacokinetics

Chondroxid® gel is well absorbed. According to the data obtained in experimental studies on mice using radiolabeled MN chondroitin sulfate, the absorption rate of chondroitin sulfate is 14%.

Dimegil sulfoxide promotes better penetration of chondroitin sulfate through cell membranes deep into tissues.

Chondroitin sulfate after application of the preparation Chondroksid® gel to the skin is quickly and selectively delivered to the joint with the maximum concentration reached after 30 minutes and the subsequent two-phase elimination of the preparation from cartilage tissue.

The fast phase of excretion is completed one hour after application. Retention time of the drug in the joint is 5 hours.

Indications

Treatment and prevention of degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the joints and spine: osteoarthritis of peripheral joints and osteochondrosis of the spine.

Special instructions

Avoid contact of the drug with mucous membranes and open wounds.

If it gets on skin or clothing, the gel is easily washed off with water, leaving no traces.

Do not use the drug without consulting a doctor during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in childhood.

Pregnancy

Chondroxide is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
