Pharmgroup:

Rehydrating agent.

Pharmaceutical action:

Chlorosol is a combined salt solution for rehydration and detoxification. It has hemodynamic action, reducing hypovolemia (decreased volume of circulating blood), preventing blood clotting and metabolic acidosis (acidification due to metabolic disorders, vomiting, profuse sweating, etc.); improves capillary (through the smallest vessels) blood circulation, heart and renal function; increases diuresis and has detoxifying effect.

Pharmacokinetics:

The drug is short in the vascular bed (contains crystalloids with low molecular weight, easily penetrates through capillary walls), quickly passes into the interstitial space. It is excreted by the kidneys, increasing diuresis (removes harmful substances from the body).

Indications

Rehydration, intoxication against dehydration (including cholera, acute dysentery, food toxicosis).

Active ingredient

Composition

1 liter:
– sodium acetic acid trihydrate (in terms of anhydrous salt) 3.6 g
– sodium chloride 4.75 g
– potassium chloride 1.5 g
water for injection to 1 L

How to take, the dosage

Intravenously by trickle or drip.

For 1 hour the solution is administered in the amount corresponding to 7-10% of the patient’s body weight, then the trickle administration is replaced by dropwise administration for 24-48 hours at a rate of 40-120 drops/minute.

The solution is heated to body temperature before administration.

The solution is administered in the amounts necessary to restore the volume of lost fluid. The balance of injected and lost fluids is determined every 6 hours.

Interaction

It is not recommended to prescribe Chlosol solution with potassium preparations and potassium-saving diuretics.

Special Instructions

The therapy is carried out under control of hematocrit and blood electrolyte concentration. If hyperkalemia develops, the solution can be replaced with Disol solution until normalization of electrolyte balance.

The use in pediatric practice is not described.

Particular effects of the drug on the ability to drive a vehicle or potentially dangerous machinery:

No effect.

– renal failure
– heart failure

Side effects

– edema
– tachycardia
