Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic agent for topical use active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative protozoan bacteria and viruses, including Treponema pallidum Chlamidia spp. Ureaplasma spp. Neisseria gonorrhoeae Trichomonas vaginalis Gardnerella vaginalis Bacteroides fragilis Herpes simplex virus type 2. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp. Proteus spp. as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria spores bacteria fungi. Chlorhexidine does not impair the functional activity of lactobacilli. Maintains activity although somewhat reduced in the presence of blood pus and other biological fluids.
Pharmacokinetics:
In intravaginal application practically does not absorb and has no systemic action.
Indications
– treatment of vaginitis (including acute nonspecific mixed trichomonas);
– prevention of infectious and inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology (before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases before childbirth and abortion before and after installation of an intrauterine device (IUD) before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix before intrauterine examinations);
– prevention of sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, genital herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis).

Special instructions
Toilet of the external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of suppositories, since the drug is used intravaginally.
The drug is intended for intravaginal use in adults. If allergic reactions or irritation occur at the site of drug administration, treatment is stopped. To prevent infection, simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is necessary. During treatment for bacterial vaginosis, it is recommended to abstain from sexual intercourse. It is possible to use the drug during menstruation, since the drug retains its activity, although somewhat reduced, in the presence of blood, pus and other biological fluids.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery
The use of the drug does not affect driving or engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Excipients: macrogol-1500 (polyethylene glycol 1500) – 2533.3 mg, macrogol-400 (polyethylene glycol 400) – 225.2 mg, macrogol-4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000) – 56.3 mg.
