Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic agent.
Chlorhexidine is active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as yeasts, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.
It acts on bacterial spores only at elevated temperatures.
Cleans and disinfects skin without damaging it.
Indications
For topical use: trichomonad colpitis, cervical erosion, vulval itching, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including. Gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis); gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, paradontitis, alveolitis, disinfection of removable dentures; angina; postoperative care of patients in ENT and dental departments.
The treatment of wounds, burn wounds and surfaces; disinfection of patient skin.
Treatment of surgeon’s hands, nursing staff and operating field before diagnostic manipulations, surgery.
Disinfection of working surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment where thermal treatment is undesirable.

Active substance:
Chlorhexidine solution for the preparation of dosage forms 20% (equivalent to 5 g of chlorhexidine bigluconate)
How to take, the dosage
Externally.
In hygienic treatment of the hands of medical personnel, 5 ml of the product is applied to the hands and rubbed into the skin for 2 minutes.
When treating a surgeon’s hands before using the product, the hands are thoroughly washed with warm running water and toilet soap for 2 minutes and dried with a sterile gauze cloth. Then the product is applied to dry hands in portions of 5 ml (at least 2 times) and rubbed into the skin of the hands, keeping them wet for 3 minutes.
When treating the operating field or the elbow bends of donors, the skin is successively wiped twice with separate sterile gauze swabs abundantly moistened with the product. Exposure time after the end of treatment is 2 minutes. On the eve of surgery, the patient takes a shower (bath), changes underwear.
When treating the operating field the skin is wiped (in one direction) with a sterile tampon moistened with the agent. Exposure time after the end of treatment is 1 minute. For disinfection of small surfaces (including tables, equipment, chair armrests) surfaces are wiped with a rag soaked in the product. The rate of consumption of the product for such treatment is 100 ml/m2.
Before disinfection the visible contamination shall be removed from medical devices: from the external surface – using cloths moistened with water; the internal channels shall be washed with water using a broom or a syringe with observance of antiepidemic measures (rubber gloves, aprons).
The tissues, flushing water and flushing containers shall be disinfected by boiling or by one of the disinfectants according to the modes recommended for viral parenteral hepatitis (in case of tuberculosis – according to the modes recommended for this infection), according to the current instructions and methodological documents.
The products after removal of contamination shall be completely immersed in the solution of the product, filling cavities and ducts with it. Separate products shall be immersed in disassembled form. Containers with the solution should be sealed tightly with lids to avoid evaporation of alcohol and reduction of its concentration.
For disinfection of products previously washed of dirt, the product can be used for 3 days repeatedly (provided that the used product is stored in a tightly closed container to avoid changes in the alcohol concentration). At the first signs of changes in the appearance of the product (including the appearance of flakes, clouding) it should be replaced.
Interaction
Pharmaceutically incompatible with soaps, bases and other anionic compounds (colloids, gum arabic, carboxymethylcellulose).
Special Instructions
Do not apply to wounds and mucous membranes. In case of contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, they should be quickly and thoroughly rinsed with water and put 30% solution of sodium sulfacyl (Albucid), if necessary, consult a doctor.
In case of accidental ingestion you should immediately flush the stomach with plenty of water, then give an adsorbent (10-20 tablets of activated charcoal). If necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out.
The product is easily flammable! Avoid contact with open flames and switched on heating devices.
