An antiseptic.
Cleans and disinfects the skin without causing skin damage.
Chlorhexidine is active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as yeasts, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.
It acts on bacterial spores only at elevated temperatures.
Indications
Treatment of wounds, burn wounds and surfaces; disinfection of patient skin.
Treatment of the hands of the surgeon, nursing staff and the operating field before diagnostic manipulations, surgery.
For topical use: trichomonas colpitis, cervical erosion, itching of the vulva, prevention of venereal diseases (including. gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis); gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, paradontitis, alveolitis, disinfection of removable dentures; angina; postoperative care of patients in ENT and dental departments.
Disinfection of working surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment where thermal treatment is undesirable.
Active ingredient
Composition
Active substance:
Chlorhexidine solution for the preparation of dosage forms of 20% (equivalent to 5 g of chlorhexidine bigluconate) – 25 ml.
Auxiliary substances:
Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) 95% – 718.5 ml;
Purified water, until a solution of 1 liter.
How to take, the dosage
Externally.
In hygienic treatment of the hands of medical personnel, 5 ml of the product is applied to the hands and rubbed into the skin for 2 minutes.
When treating a surgeon’s hands before using the product, the hands are thoroughly washed with warm running water and toilet soap for 2 minutes and dried with a sterile gauze cloth. Then the product is applied to dry hands in portions of 5 ml (at least 2 times) and rubbed into the hands while keeping them wet for 3 minutes.
When treating the operating field or the elbow bends of donors, the skin is successively wiped twice with separate sterile gauze swabs abundantly moistened with the product. Exposure time after the end of treatment is 2 min. On the eve of surgery the patient takes a shower (bath), change underwear. When treating the operating field the skin is wiped (in one direction) with a sterile tampon moistened with the agent. Exposure time after the end of treatment is 1 minute. For decontamination of small surfaces (including tables, equipment, chair armrests) surfaces are wiped with a rag soaked in the product. The rate of consumption of the product for such treatment is 100 ml/m2.
Before disinfection, visible contamination shall be removed from medical devices: from the external surface – using cloths moistened with water; internal channels shall be washed with water using a broom or syringe, observing anti-epidemic measures (rubber gloves, apron). Wipes, washing water and washing containers are disinfected by boiling or one of the disinfectants according to regimes recommended for viral parenteral hepatitis (for tuberculosis – according to regimes recommended for this infection), according to the current instructions and methodological documents. Products after removal of contamination shall be completely immersed in the solution of the product, filling cavities and ducts with it. Separate articles shall be immersed in disassembled form. Containers with the solution should be sealed tightly with lids to avoid evaporation of alcohol and reducing its concentration.
For disinfection of articles previously washed of dirt, the product can be used for 3 days repeatedly (provided that the used product is stored in a tightly closed container to avoid changes in the alcohol concentration). At the first signs of changes in the appearance of the product (including flaking, clouding) it should be replaced.
Interaction
Pharmaceutically incompatible with soaps, bases and other anionic compounds (colloids, gum arabic, carboxymethylcellulose).
Special Instructions
In case of accidental ingestion, the stomach should be immediately flushed with plenty of water, then an adsorbent should be given (10-20 tablets of activated charcoal). If necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out.
The product is easily flammable! Avoid contact with open flames and switched on heating devices.
Do not apply to wounds or mucous membranes. If contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, rinse them quickly and thoroughly with water and drop in 30% solution of sodium sulfacyl (Albucid), if necessary seek medical advice.
