Burning, itching, lacrimation, a feeling of a foreign body, or a feeling of dryness are symptoms of eye irritation. You rub your eyes, but the unpleasant symptoms persist. This is a sign that the surface of your eye is not sufficiently moist. The surface of a healthy eye is covered with a smooth, uniform tear film that keeps the tissues in good functional condition and washes away any dust or dirt particles. Some conditions put extra strain on the eye and impair the physiological function of the tear film. This can be caused by being in an air-conditioned room, working intensely with a computer, or being in a dusty environment. Tear secretion decreases with age.
Hiloparin-Comod® Ophthalmic Moisturizing Solution combines the advantages of two physiological substances. Thanks to their physical and chemical properties these substances are particularly suitable for the restoration of the tear film on the surface of the eye. HILOPARIN-COMOD® solution contains sodium hyaluronate, which is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found both in the tissues of the eye and in other tissues and fluids of the human body.
The special physical and chemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their expressed ability to bind and retain water molecules in volumes many times greater than its own weight. Its long molecular chains form water storages, and its gel-like structure changes its viscosity, adapting it to the movement of the eye lids. The elasticity and thixotropic properties of the solution guarantee, on the one hand, the formation of a stable moisturizing film on the ocular surface, and on the other hand, it does not impede vision between blinks of the eyelids. The aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties to the front surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva).
Sodium heparin is also a natural substance similar in chemical structure to sodium hyaluronate. In addition, the chemical structure of sodium heparin bears a great resemblance to the physiological mucin of the tear film, it is also surrounded by a significant amount of water. These properties of sodium heparin further support the moisturizing effect of sodium hyaluronate, thereby creating the necessary conditions for regeneration of the ocular surface epithelium. Sodium hyaluronate and heparin restore the normal condition of the cornea and conjunctiva; together with natural tears these components will additionally moisten the ocular surface.
The result is a stable tear film that protects the eye from the adverse effects of the environment. Thanks to the absence of preservatives and the content of natural substances HILOPARIN-COMOD® solution is generally well tolerated.
Hiloparin Comod® solution is housed in the ingenious Comod® container which is an ingenious system of reservoirs and valves to ensure that no outside air enters and that consistent droplets are removed regardless of the amount of force applied.
The metal parts and valves of the container which are in contact with the solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver which together with the absolute air-tightness of the system ensures that the HILOPARIN-COMOD® solution is sterile in the absence of preservatives.
This prevents possible undesired effects of the preservatives on the eye tissue and ensures good tolerance of HILOPARIN-COMOD® solution even with prolonged use.
Indications
For additional hydration and protection of the ocular surface (cornea and conjunctiva), eliminating symptoms of irritation, redness of the conjunctiva, as well as burning and itching caused by adverse environmental factors or disruption of tear fluid production, including after ophthalmic surgery, with damage and trauma to the cornea, as well as when wearing hard and soft contact lenses.
Pharmacological effect
Burning, itching, watery eyes, a foreign body sensation, or a feeling of dryness are symptoms of eye irritation. You rub your eyes, but the unpleasant symptoms remain. This is a sign that the surface of the eye is not sufficiently hydrated. The surface of a healthy eye is covered with a smooth, uniform tear film, which keeps the tissue in good functional condition and washes away any particles of dust or dirt. Some conditions place additional strain on the eyes and impair the physiological function of the tear film. This may be caused by being in an air-conditioned room, doing intensive computer work, or being in a dusty environment. With age, tear secretion decreases.
The moisturizing ophthalmic solution HILOPARIN-KOMOD® combines the advantages of two physiological substances. Due to their physical and chemical properties, these substances are particularly suitable for restoring the tear film on the surface of the eye. The composition of the solution HILOPARIN-KOMOD® includes sodium hyaluronate, which is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found both in the tissues of the eye and in other tissues and fluids of the human body.
A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their pronounced ability to bind and hold water molecules in volumes many times greater than its own weight. Its long molecular chains form water reservoirs, and its gel-like structure changes viscosity, adapting it to the movement of the eyelids. The elasticity and thixotropic properties of the solution guarantee, on the one hand, the formation of a stable moisturizing film on the ocular surface, and on the other hand, do not impede vision in the intervals between blinks of the eyelids. An aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties in relation to the anterior surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva).
Sodium heparin is also a natural substance similar in chemical structure to sodium hyaluronate. In addition, the chemical structure of sodium heparin is very similar to the physiological tear film mucin, and it is also surrounded by a significant volume of water. These properties of sodium heparin make it possible to further support the moisturizing effect of sodium hyaluronate, thereby creating the necessary conditions for the regeneration of the epithelium of the ocular surface. Sodium hyaluronate and heparin restore the normal condition of the cornea and conjunctiva; Together with natural tears, these components will additionally moisturize the ocular surface.
As a result, a stable tear film is formed, protecting the eye from adverse environmental influences. Due to the absence of preservatives and the content of natural substances, the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution is usually well tolerated.
The HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution is placed in the original “KOMOD®” container, which is a complex system of reservoirs and valves that guarantees the absence of air penetration from the outside and ensures the extraction of drops of the same size, regardless of the degree of force applied.
The metal parts and valves of the container in contact with the solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver, which, together with the absolute tightness of the system, ensures the sterility of the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution in the absence of preservatives.
This eliminates possible undesirable effects of preservatives on eye tissue and ensures good tolerability of the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution even with long-term use.
Special instructions
After using the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution, throw the container into the trash.
Composition
1 ml of HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution contains:
Sodium hyaluronate (sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) – 1 mg,
Heparin sodium – 1300 IU
Anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, glycerol, water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components included in the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution.
Interaction
In the case of combined use with ophthalmic drugs, it is recommended to maintain a pause of at least 30 minutes between instillation of the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution and the use of eye drops, while the HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution should always be used last. Eye ointments should always be used after instillation of HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution.
In the case of combined use with eye drops containing gentamicin, it is recommended to maintain a pause of at least 1 hour between instillations of both products, since gentamicin, upon direct contact with heparin, forms a visible sediment in the eye tissues.
When wearing contact lenses, it is recommended to use HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution 30 minutes after putting on contact lenses to prevent possible incompatibility reactions between contact lens care products and HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution.
