A centrally acting cholinomimetic containing 40.5% metabolically protected choline (metabolic protection promotes choline release in the brain).

On entering the body it is split by the action of enzymes into choline and glycerophosphate: choline is involved in the biosynthesis of acetylcholine – one of the main mediators of neural excitation; glycerophosphate is a precursor of phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) of the neuronal membrane.

The drug provides synthesis of acetylcholine and phosphatidylcholine in neuronal membranes, improves blood flow and enhances metabolic processes in CNS, activates reticular formation; increases the linear velocity of blood flow on the side of the traumatic brain injury, promotes normalization of spatiotemporal characteristics of spontaneous bioelectrical activity of the brain; has a positive effect on the cognitive and behavioral responses of patients with cerebral vascular disease.

The drug improves brain functions, influencing pathogenetic factors of involutional psychoorganic syndrome, changes phospholipid composition of neuronal membranes and reduces cholinergic activity.

Dose-dependently stimulates acetylcholine release by participating in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine (membrane phospholipid), improves synaptic transmission, neuronal membrane plasticity, receptor function.

Indications

– Acute and recovery periods of severe craniocerebral injury and ischemic stroke, recovery period of hemorrhagic stroke with focal hemispheric symptoms or symptoms of brainstem damage;

– psychoorganic syndrome against degenerative and involutionary changes of the brain;

– chronic insufficiency of cerebral circulation;

– cognitive disorders (disorders of thinking function, memory, confusion, disorientation, decreased motivation, initiative and ability to concentrate), including.including in dementia and encephalopathy;

– senile pseudomelancholia.

How to take, the dosage

In acute conditions the drug is administered intravenously or intravenously (slowly) in a daily dose of 1 g (1 ampoule) for 10-15 days, then the drug is taken orally in a daily dose of 1.2 g (800 mg /2 caps./ morning and 400 mg /1 caps./day) for 6 months.

In chronic conditions the drug is prescribed orally at 400 mg (1 capful) 3 times a day. The duration of therapy is 3-6 months.

The capsules are recommended to be taken before meals.

Interaction

Drug interactions of the drug Cerepro have not been established.

Contraindications

– pregnancy;

– lactation (breast-feeding) period;

– hypersensitivity to the drug components.

Side effects

Digestive system disorders:nausea (as a consequence of dopaminergic activation).

Others:allergic reactions.

Overdose

Symptoms: dyspepsia.

Treatment: Gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.
