Cephalexin is bactericidal, antibacterial.

Disrupts synthesis of cell wall peptidoglycan and causes lysis of microorganisms.

Cephalexin 250 mg.

How to take, the dosage

A single dose of the preparation for adults is 0.5 – 1 g every 6-8 hours (1 – 2 g / day); in case of severe infection and also in case of isolation of moderately sensitive to cephalexin – 2 g every 8 hours, the maximum daily dose – 6 g.

Contraindications

Sensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics.

Side effects

Nervous system and sensory organs: headache, dizziness, somnolence, hallucinations (rare).

Cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): eosinophilia, reversible leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia.

Gastrointestinal system disorders: nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, loss of appetite, diarrhea, cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, transient increase of liver transaminases activity.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, dermatitis, rarely – Quincke’s edema, arthralgia, candidiasis.

Pregnancy use

Possible if the expected effect of therapy exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment with Cephalexin.
