Ingestion. Before taking the tablet, dissolve it in a glass of water.
Adults – 1-2 tablets of Calcium + Vitamin C per day.
Interaction
The drug may decrease absorption of estramustine, etidronate and possibly other bisphosphonates, phenytoin, quinolones, oral tetracycline antibiotics and fluoride preparations.
The interval between taking Calcium + Vitamin C tablets and the above medications should be at least 3 hours.
The simultaneous administration of vitamin D and its derivatives increases calcium absorption.
Gastrointestinal calcium absorption may be decreased if certain foods such as spinach, rhubarb, bran, and cereals are taken at the same time.
When administered in high doses together with vitamin D and its derivatives, calcium may decrease the effect of verapamil and possibly other calcium channel blockers. Oral administration of high doses of calcium to patients receiving foxglove drugs may increase the risk of arrhythmias.
Thiazide diuretics decrease urinary calcium excretion. Therefore, you should be aware of the risk of hypercalcemia when they are used at the same time as calcium + vitamin C effervescent tablets.
Special Instructions
In patients with mild hypercalciuria (exceeding 300 mg = 7.5 mmol/d), with mild to moderate renal dysfunction, as well as in the presence of anamnestic evidence of urolithiasis, regular monitoring of urinary calcium excretion is required.
The drug dose should be reduced or discontinued if necessary. Patients with a tendency to form concrements in the urinary tract are recommended to increase fluid intake.
Higher doses of vitamin D or its derivatives should be avoided with calcium therapy unless there is a specific indication.
Contraindications
Side effects
In rare cases, mild gastrointestinal disorders (flatulence, constipation or diarrhea) may occur;
allergic reactions, shortness of breath, fever, when taken in high doses – headache, increased fatigue, thirst, polyuria.
Overdose
No cases of acute overdose have been reported.
Symptoms: Gastrointestinal disorders are possible, which will not lead to hypercalcemia, except in cases of simultaneous administration of high doses of vitamin D and its derivatives.
Treatment: symptomatic.
Pregnancy use
Calcium passes into breast milk.
In pregnancy, the daily dose of calcium should not exceed 1500 mg.
Hypercalcemia during pregnancy can cause defects in fetal physical and mental development.
