Hawthorn (Crataegus)

The recommended daily intake of “A/D NORM” (2-4 capsules) contains 200-400 mg of hawthorn extract. Researchers found a dose-dependent effect of hawthorn extract on increasing exercise capacity and reducing signs and symptoms of heart failure and that hawthorn can be safely used with diuretics and laxatives. The antioxidant and other effects of hawthorn are mainly attributed to its polyphenol content. As biologically active compounds, hawthorn contains aromatic amines, essential oils, phenolic acids, flavonoids (hyperoside, quercetin, spirein, rutin and apigenin), proanthocyanidins. The biologically active substances of hawthorn have a positive inotropic effect and are a peripheral vasodilator. Thanks to its bioactive substances, hawthorn extract can be used as additional support for chronic heart failure.

Rutin

Rutin is a representative of a group of substances of plant origin – flavonoids (quercetin rhamnoglucoside). Due to its ability to bind free radicals and metal ions, rutin is considered a powerful antioxidant. The property of rutin to bind free radicals plays an important role in protecting DNA from various oxidative damages. By binding free radicals, the aglycone rutin has a protective effect against reperfusion injury of ischemic tissues. Rutin can also be used as an anti-inflammatory substance by scavenging free radicals, preventing the initiation of inflammatory cytokine transcription factors. Rutin has an inhibitory effect on the reaction of lipid peroxidation, which is one of the driving factors in the development of various cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. The aglycone rutin has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, thereby reducing the risk of blood clots. Rutin helps maintain normal blood pressure, strengthen the walls of blood vessels and capillaries and increase their tone.

Fruits of chokeberry (chokeberry)

Due to the presence and high content of various bioactive components, such as vitamins, minerals and polyphenolic compounds, chokeberry exhibits antioxidant properties.
