Boric ointment is an antiseptic.

It has weak bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties, has antipediculosis effect.

In combination with oxyquinoline sulfate it has contraceptive properties.

Indications

Antiseptic for use in ENT practice, dermatology, ophthalmology.

Contraception (in combination with hydroxyquinoline sulfate).

Pharmacological effect

Special instructions

Should not be applied to large areas of the body. Do not apply externally on hairy areas in case of acute inflammatory skin diseases.

Contraindications

Renal dysfunction, childhood, treatment of the mammary glands (before feeding the child), pregnancy, hypersensitivity to boric acid.

Side Effects

Possible: with overdose and long-term use, as well as with impaired renal function, acute and chronic toxic reactions may occur (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, headache, confusion, convulsions, oliguria, shock).
