Pharmacological effect

Has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Special instructions

For external use only. Do not use with warming compresses. If skin irritation occurs, stop use. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and areas of skin irritation. Do not use the drug for more than 10 days without consulting a doctor.

Composition

menthol/peppermint oil 3.9/7.8 g

methyl salicylate 20.2 g

excipients:

solid petroleum paraffins

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to any component of the drug;

open wounds;

skin irritation;

children under 6 years of age.

With caution: pregnancy, breastfeeding, aspirin-induced bronchial asthma, children aged 6 to 12 years.

Side Effects

In rare cases, hypersensitivity to the drug, irritation at the injection site, allergic skin reactions, and angioedema develop.

Interaction

The drug causes skin hyperemia and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, thus, combined use with other local drugs can lead to increased absorption. The use of large quantities may increase the toxicity of methotrexate and reduce the therapeutic effect of hypoglycemic agents. The drug should not be used with oral anticoagulants.

Overdose

Overdose of menthol and methyl salicylate has been observed in isolated cases, mainly in children, due to accidental ingestion of drugs containing these substances.

Symptoms: agitation, increased depth of breathing, hyperpyrexia, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and symptoms of central nervous system depression such as dizziness, unsteady gait, flushing, drowsiness, respiratory depression and coma.

Treatment: symptomatic and supportive; correction of electrolyte and water balance, prescription of adsorbents and saline laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases – blood transfusion, hemodialysis.

An overdose of Bom-Benge ointment when applied topically occurs rarely and only when the drug is used incorrectly (application to mucous membranes, large areas of damaged or infected skin).

Shelf life

3 years.
Do not use after the expiration date stated on the package.
