Pharmacokinetics

In topical application the active ingredients of the drug are not absorbed into the systemic blood stream and have no systemic effect.

Indications

Arthralgia, myalgia, (muscle pain) before and after sports, pain syndrome in diseases of periarticular tissues, lumboischialgia, radiculitis.

Special instructions

Avoid contact with the conjunctiva and other mucous membranes. Do not apply to damaged or irritated skin. Do not use with warming compresses. There is no information about the possible effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Composition

Composition per 100 g: Active ingredients: Levomenthol – 3.9 g, Methyl salicylate – 20.2 g. Excipients: Vaseline – 68.9 g, Paraffin (petroleum solid paraffins) grade P-1 – 7.0 g.

Pregnancy

Not used during breastfeeding and in the third trimester of pregnancy. Use in the I-II trimesters only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, violation of the integrity of the skin, inflammatory skin diseases at the site of intended application. Pregnancy III trimester, children under 18 years of age.

Intolerance to salicylic acid derivatives. Pregnancy I-II trimester.

Side Effects

In rare cases, hypersensitivity to the drug, allergic skin reactions (skin itching, urticaria, skin rash) and angioedema develop.

Interaction

The drug causes skin hyperemia and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, thus, combined use with other local drugs can lead to increased absorption. The use of large quantities may increase the toxicity of methotrexate and reduce the therapeutic effect of hypoglycemic agents. The drug should not be used with oral anticoagulants.

Overdose

Overdose of menthol and methyl salicylate has been observed in isolated cases, mainly in children due to accidental ingestion of drugs containing these substances.

Symptoms of overdose: agitation, increased depth of breathing, hyperpyrexia, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and symptoms of central nervous system depression such as dizziness, unsteady gait, flushing, drowsiness, respiratory depression and coma.

Treatment is symptomatic and supportive: correction of water and electrolyte balance, administration of adsorbents and saline laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases – blood transfusion, hemodialysis.

Overdose when applied topically occurs rarely and only when the drug is used incorrectly (application to mucous membranes, large areas of damaged or infected skin).

Recommendations for use

Externally (in the form of rubbing). The required amount of ointment (2-4 g, which corresponds to the volume of a large cherry) is rubbed into painful areas of the skin. If necessary, the procedure is repeated after a few hours (up to 3 times a day). Duration of the course (without consulting a doctor) 10 days.
Use of the drug upon first use or when discontinuing it: no information.

Storage conditions
