An antiprotozoal drug. It is active against trichomonads.

It also has antialcoholic (disulfiram-like) effect.

Pharmacokinetics

It is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Slowly excreted, allowing the blood concentration of trichomonacid to be maintained for many hours.

Indications

Trichomoniasis of the urogenital system.

Active ingredient

Composition

Associates:

Peanut butter – 194 mg,

Hydrogenated soy bean oil – 6 mg,

Soy lecithin – 5 mg.

Capsule shell composition:

gelatin – 134 mg, sorbitol and sorbitan solution – 66 mg, titanium dioxide (E171) – 1.5 mg, iron oxide yellow dye (E172) – 1 mg, glycerol – 3.5 mg, hypromellose phthalate – 30 mg, dibutyl phthalate – 5.2 mg.

How to take, the dosage

For oral administration.

One capsule twice a day (morning and evening) with a meal for 4 days. It is not recommended to exceed the indicated daily dose.

If you miss one or more doses, start again at your usual dose.

Interaction

Incompatible with medicines containing ethanol.

Special Instructions

Alcohol and medications containing ethanol should be avoided during treatment. There is a certain risk in patients who abuse alcohol, especially if the recommended dosage is exceeded. Persons unable to abstain from alcohol for the duration of treatment should not be prescribed the drug.

The simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is necessary.

Do not wear contact lenses during treatment (possible penetration of the drug into the ocular fluid).

Possible yellow staining of the sclerae and urine.

If your blood white blood cell count changes with other medications, see your doctor.

The drug is used to treat trichomoniasis in adults only. Sexual intercourse should be avoided during the treatment of trichomoniasis.

Impact on driving and operating ability

There are no data on adverse effects of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms.

Contraindications

Side effects

Gastrointestinal disorders: sometimes – nausea, feeling of heaviness in the epigastrium, loss of appetite.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, skin rashes, itching.

If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Pregnancy use

The use during pregnancy and lactation is possible only when the expected benefits to the mother exceed the potential risk to the fetus.

The drug is excreted with the breast milk, therefore if it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be stopped.
