Alpha-adrenergic stimulator, narrows the blood vessels of the nasal cavity mucosa, eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the mucosa.

Easily eases nasal breathing in rhinitis.

The effect occurs within a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Indications

Acute allergic rhinitis, acute respiratory infections with symptoms of rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever; otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa).

Preparing the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Pharmacological effect

Special instructions

Frequent and long-term use is not recommended for chronic diseases of the nasopharynx. For “colds” in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to administer it in the form of a gel.

Do not use simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Xylometazoline

Composition

Active ingredient:

xylometazoline hydrochloride 15 mg;

Excipients:

sodium dihydrogen phosphate,

sodium hydrogen phosphate,

sodium chloride,

benzalkonium chloride,

purified water.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, surgical interventions on the meninges (history), children (up to 6 years), thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy; do not use during therapy with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Side Effects

When used, it can cause a burning sensation in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dryness of the nasal mucosa.

Allergic reactions are possible. Rarely – swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, blurred vision; depression (with long-term use in high doses).

If symptoms occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor.
