Pharmacodynamics:
Asparkam is a source of potassium and magnesium ions and regulates metabolic processes. The mechanism of action is presumably related to the role of potassium and magnesium aspartate as a carrier of magnesium and potassium ions into the intracellular space and its participation in metabolic processes. Thus, Asparkam eliminates the imbalance of electrolytes, reduces the excitability and conductivity of the myocardium (moderate antiarrhythmic effect).

Pharmacokinetics:
Easily absorbed when taken orally and relatively quickly excreted by the kidneys.

Special instructions

Regular monitoring of electrolyte homeostasis is necessary.

Composition

1 tablet contains:

Asparkam, semi-finished granules – 0.5 g, which includes:

Active ingredients: potassium aspartate hemihydrate – 0.175 g

magnesium aspartate hemihydrate – 0.175 g.

Excipients: potato starch – 0.135 g, talc – 0.01 g, calcium stearate – 0.005 g.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, impaired amino acid metabolism, arterial hypotension, acute and chronic renal failure, hyperkalemia, hypermagnesemia, impaired atrioventricular conduction (AV block I-III degrees), oliguria, anuria, myasthenia gravis, acute metabolic acidosis, impaired amino acid metabolism, dehydration (exicosis), hemolysis, Addison’s disease.

With caution:
Hypophosphatemia, urolithiasis (associated with impaired metabolism of Ca2+, Mg2+ and ammonium phosphate), pregnancy (especially the first trimester) and lactation.

Side Effects

Possible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the epigastric region (in patients with anacid gastritis or cholecystitis), hyperkalemia (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, paresthesia) and hypermagnesemia (hyperemia of the facial skin, thirst, bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, muscle weakness, fatigue, paresis, coma, areflexia, respiratory depression, convulsions).

Interaction

Pharmacodynamic: combined use with potassium-sparing diuretics (triamterene, spironolactone), beta-blockers, cyclosporine, heparin, ACE inhibitors, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases the risk of developing hyperkalemia up to the development of arrhythmia and asystole. The use of potassium supplements together with glucocorticosteroids eliminates the hypokalemia caused by the latter. Under the influence of potassium, the undesirable effects of cardiac glycosides are reduced. Magnesium reduces the effect of neomycin, polymyxin B, tetracycline and streptomycin. Anesthetics increase the inhibitory effect of magnesium preparations on the central nervous system; when used simultaneously with atracuronium, decamethonium, succinyl chloride and suxamethonium, neuromuscular blockade may be enhanced; Calcitriol increases the content of magnesium in the blood plasma, calcium supplements reduce the effect of magnesium supplements.

Strengthens the negative dromo- and bathmotropic effect of antiarrhythmic drugs.

Pharmacokinetic: astringents and enveloping agents reduce the absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract.

Overdose

Symptoms: hyperkalemia and hypermagnesemia.

Treatment: intravenous calcium chloride; if necessary, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Storage conditions

In a dry place at a temperature of 12-25°C, out of reach of children.

Shelf life

3 years. Do not use after the expiration date stated on the package.
