Askoril is a combined drug with bronchodilator and expectorant action.

Salbutamol is a selective β2-adrenoreceptor agonist, has a bronchodilator effect, stops bronchospasm.

Bromhexine has mucolytic action. It reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretion by depolarization of acidic polysaccharides and stimulation of secretory cells of bronchial mucous.

Guifenesin reduces the surface tension and adhesive properties of sputum and promotes expectoration.

Indications

Bronchial asthma;

acute and chronic bronchitis;

Active ingredient

Composition

1 tablet contains:

salbutamol – 2 mg,

bromhexine – 8 mg,

guaifenesin – 100 mg.

How to take, the dosage

The drug Ascoril is taken orally.

The dosage for adults and children over 12 years is 1 tablet 3 times a day.

For children aged 6 to 12 years, Ascoril is prescribed 1/2 tablet 3 times a day.

Interaction

Other beta2-adrenomimetic agents and theophylline increase the effect of salbutamol and increase the likelihood of side effects.

Askoril is not prescribed concomitantly with drugs containing codeine and other anti-cough medications because this makes it difficult to drain diluted sputum.

The bromhexin in Ascoril promotes the penetration of antibiotics (erythromycin, cephalexin, oxytetracycline) into the lung tissue.

Askoril is not recommended to be used simultaneously with non-selective beta-adrenoreceptor blockers such as propranololol.

The salbutamol in Ascoril is not recommended for patients who are receiving MAO inhibitors.

Diuretics and GCS increase the hypokalemic effect of salbutamol.

It is not recommended to take alkaline drinking at the same time as Ascoril.

Special Instructions

With caution prescribe the drug to patients with hyperthyroidism, diabetes, severe cardiovascular disease, arterial hypertension, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer.

Contraindications

Tachycardia; disorders of heart rhythm; hypersensitivity to components of the drug.

Side effects

Rarely: tremor of hands, tachycardia, muscle cramps.

When used in high doses – tachycardia, headache, peripheral vasodilation.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased manifestations of side effects.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy.
