It is used as prescribed by the doctor.

Ascorbic acid is prescribed orally (after meals), intramuscularly or intravenously. Adults are prescribed 0.05 g-0.1 g a day for prophylactic purposes; during pregnancy, during the post-partum period and in case of low vitamin C content in the milk of nursing women the dose is 0.3 g a day for 10-15 days, after which 0.1 g a day during the whole period of lactation is prescribed prophylactically.

In children it is prescribed 0.025 g 2 to 3 times a day prophylactically. If it is administered orally therapeutic doses for adults are 0.05-0.1 g 3-5 times a day; for children – 0.05-0.1 g 2-3 times a day.

Therapeutic doses for adults when administered parenterally are 1-3 ml of 5% solution (2-6 ml of 2.5% solution) daily.

In children 1-2 ml of 5% solution (2-4 ml of 2.5% solution) is administered parenterally per day.

The course of treatment depends on the nature and course of the disease.

Daily requirement of 75-100 mg, a lot in berries (rosehips), citrus fruits, vegetables Absorption of vitamin C is reduced with the simultaneous use of birth control pills, alkaline drinking. The drug increases the absorption of antibiotics-penicillins, iron, reduces the effect.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

In long-term use in high doses (more than 500 mg):

With caution: sideroblast anemia, urolithiasis.

Overdose

Symptoms: nephrolithiasis, insomnia, irritability, hypoglycemia.

Treatment: symptomatic, forced diuresis.
