Glucosamine sulfate belongs to the class of chondroprotectors, which are now widely used in the treatment of joint diseases. They are natural components of articular cartilage, are part of the proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans of cartilage tissue.

The most important point in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis is the formation of proteoglycan, which consists in the depolymerization of protein-polysaccharide complexes with the formation of smaller compounds that leave the cartilage. This also disturbs the function of chondrocytes, they synthesize less stable proteoglycans, the loss of physiological properties of cartilage develops, which is accompanied by the formation of erosions and cracks in the cartilage.

Glucosamine is a compound of glucose and amino acid. It is part of the glycoprotein, thyroglobulin, which plays an essential role in the condensation reaction of diiodothyrosine molecules in the thyroid gland. It is widespread in nature, is part of many polysaccharides contained in the tissues of vertebrates, and is the main component of chitin, a structural polysaccharide that forms the outer skeleton of insects, crayfish, crabs, etc.

It is also found in oligosaccharides of milk, polysaccharides of connective tissue, group-specific substances of blood, and glycoproteins of blood plasma.

White willow bark. White willow bark contains catechin tannins (3-10%), glycoside salicin, which splits into glucose and salicylic acid derivatives under the action of the enzyme salicase, flavones, vitamin C and resinous substances.

The willow bark preparations have anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, diuretic properties, promotes the removal of uric acid salts from the body, so they are widely used in the treatment of inflammatory and metabolic diseases of the joints. Water extracts of bark exhibit distinct antiviral and styptic properties. The main use of willow bark in inflammatory diseases of the joints – arthritis, articular rheumatism.

Magnesium oxide. Magnesium is part of metalloproteins, complex proteins that contain extra-additive, non-protein group metals. It is referred to as an activator that increases the activity of enzymes, enhances their action.

Protein biosynthesis occurs with the direct participation of magnesium ions, which are necessary for the reaction of activation of amino acids and maintaining the integrity of ribosomes. The synthesis of acetyl-CoA, phosphocholine and choline phosphatides requires magnesium ion.
