Articaine, 40 mg/ml 2 ml 10 pcs

A local anesthetic of the amide type of the thiaphene series.

The mechanism of action is due to stabilization of neuronal membranes and prevention of nerve impulse formation and conduction.

The anesthetic effect develops within 1-11 minutes and lasts for 60-225 minutes.

Indications

Infiltration and conduction anesthesia for surgical and diagnostic interventions, in obstetrics, in pain syndromes.

Active ingredient

Composition

1 ml of the solution contains:

the active ingredient:

articaine hydrochloride – 40 mg;

excipients:

sodium chloride – 2.1 mg

water for injection to 1 ml.

How to take, the dosage

It is always advisable to perform an aspiration test before administering the drug in order to avoid intravascular injection of the drug. The plunger pressure during drug administration should be adjusted according to the tissue sensitivity. Injection of the drug into inflamed areas of the mucosa is not recommended. Food intake is allowed only after recovery of sensitivity.

In case of uncomplicated extraction of the upper jaw teeth in the non-inflammatory stage – in the vestibular depot 1.7 ml per tooth; if necessary additional 1.0-1.7 ml. For anesthesia in palatal incisions and suturing to create a palatal depot – 0.1 ml. When removing mandibular premolars (5-5) in the uncomplicated stage, infiltration anesthesia gives the effect of conductive anesthesia. When preparing cavities and trimming teeth for crowns, except for mandibular molars – vestibular injection of 0.5 – 1.7 ml per tooth.

In one treatment procedure the maximum dose for adults is 4 mg/kg body weight. Use during pregnancy and lactation: The safety of use of Artticaine during pregnancy has not been established due to insufficient clinical data.

Articaine penetrates through the placental barrier. The use of the drug by a dentist can only be considered if the potential benefit from its use justifies the potential risk to the fetus. There is no effect on the fetus (except for possible bradycardia) at any technique of administration and dose. There is no need to interrupt breastfeeding during lactation, since no clinically significant concentrations of Articaine are detected in breast milk.

Interaction

Tricyclic antidepressants increase the hypotensive effect of articaine.

Special Instructions

With caution and under strict indications should be used in pseudocholinesterase deficiency, vegetovascular dystonia, CNS diseases, malignant anemia, conditions of chronic hypoxia.

Can be used in combination with epinephrine, with glucose solution.

Contraindications

Meningitis, tumors, polio, intracranial bleeding.

Osteochondrosis, spondylitis, tuberculosis or metastatic lesions of the spine, pernicious anemia with neurologic symptoms, decompensated heart failure, massive pleural effusion, significantly elevated intra-abdominal pressure, Severe ascites, abdominal tumors, marked arterial hypotension (cardiogenic or hypovolemic shock), septicemia, pustular skin lesions at the injection site, clotting disorders or anticoagulant therapy, Bier intravenous regional anesthesia.

Hypersensitivity to amide-type local anesthetic agents.

Side effects

CNS and peripheral nervous system disorders: headache, visual impairment, dyspnea, apnea, tremor, muscle twitching, convulsions; rarely – impaired consciousness, blurred vision, diplopia, blindness.

Digestive system disorders: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Cardiovascular system disorders: rarely – decreased BP, tachycardia, bradycardia.

Allergic reactions: rarely – skin rash, itching, rhinitis, angioedema, anaphylactic shock.

Pregnancy use

When used in obstetrics, especially during paracervical blockade, fetal bradycardia is possible.

Articaine is excreted with the breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts, therefore, if it is necessary to use in the mother during lactation, interruption of breastfeeding is not required.
