Pharmacological action

Vitamin D3, regulator of calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Increases absorption of calcium in the intestine and reabsorption of phosphorus in the renal tubules.

Promotes the formation of the bone skeleton and teeth in children, preserving bone structure.

It is necessary for normal functioning of the parathyroid glands. Participates in the synthesis of lymphokines and ATP.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, colecalciferol is absorbed from the small intestine.

The T1/2 is several days. It is excreted with urine and feces.

The T1/2 may increase in impaired function.

It penetrates the placental barrier. It is excreted with breast milk.

Indications

Prevention and treatment of rickets, spasmophilia, osteomalacia of various genesis, metabolic osteopathy (hypoparathyreosis, pseudohypoparathyreosis), hypocalcemic tetany.

Composition

Active ingredient: colocalciferol (vit. D3) – 1000 IU

Auxiliary substances: modified starch, sucrose, sodium ascorbate crystalline, medium chain triglycerides, silica dioxide, D,L? -tocopherol, mannitol, sodium benzoate.

Interaction

Concomitant use with anticonvulsants, rifampicin, colestyramine decreases absorption of colocalciferol.

Concomitant use with cardiac glycosides may increase the toxic effects of cardiac glycosides (increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias).

Concomitant use with thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcemia.

Directions for use

Special Instructions

May be used in combination with calcium carbonate.

With caution, use in elderly patients and in patients with prolonged immobilization.

When used in children, a dose of 400,000-600,000 IU per year is not recommended. For children in conditions of increased insolation, the single dose and, therefore, the course dose should be reduced.

In concomitant use with thiazide diuretics, blood and urinary calcium levels should be monitored every 3-6 months.

Hypervitaminosis D,

Hypercalcemia,

pelvic calculi with calcium stones,

Pregnancy use

High doses should not be used in pregnancy.

A high dose in a nursing mother may cause overdose symptoms in the baby.
