Ambrosan is secretomotor, antitussive, mucolytic, expectorant.

Stimulates serous cells of bronchial mucous membrane glands (restores the disturbed ratio of serous and mucous components of sputum), activates hydrolases, liquefies sputum, reduces its viscosity and facilitates excretion, increases mucociliary clearance. It improves lung ventilation and reduces coughing.

Pharmacokinetics

It is quickly and completely absorbed when taken orally. C_max in plasma is reached after 0.5-3 hours. It penetrates well into the bronchial mucosa and lung tissue. T_1/2 is 7-12 hours. It is excreted mainly by the kidneys.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the bronchopulmonary system, accompanied by the formation of difficult to separate sputum: acute bronchitis, tracheitis, chronic bronchitis in the acute stage, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, bronchopneumonia, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis; prevention of congestion in the bronchopulmonary system after major surgical interventions and injuries.

Pregnancy

Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Contraindications

I trimester of pregnancy; hypersensitivity to the drug.

With caution: peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions: skin rash, urticaria, angioedema.

Interaction

Increases concentrations in lung tissue and enhances the penetration of antibacterial agents (ampicillin, amoxicillin, etc.) into bronchial secretions.

When used simultaneously with antitussives, it becomes difficult to separate sputum during a cough.

Storage conditions

In a dry place, protected from light, at a temperature of 15-25 °C.
