Albumin is a drug for parenteral nutrition.
Maintaining oncotic pressure in the blood, increasing the volume of circulating blood, increasing blood pressure to facilitate the transfer of tissue fluid into the bloodstream, providing the body with proteins.
In clinical practice the indications for the use of albumin solution are almost the same as for plasma, but in many pathological conditions the use of albumin solution has a more rapid and pronounced therapeutic effect.
Indications
A decrease in plasma albumin concentration of less than 30 g/l or colloid-oncotic pressure of less than 15 mmHg, or a decrease in total protein of less than 50 g/l:
hypoalbuminemia of various origins – shock (hemorrhagic, traumatic, thermal), acute blood loss (decrease in blood volume by more than 25-30%), purulent-septic conditions, liver diseases with impaired albumin-synthesizing function, kidney diseases (nephritis, nephrotic syndrome), burn disease;
operations using artificial circulation;
therapeutic plasmapheresis;
hemolytic disease of newborns during exchange transfusion;
carrying out preoperative hemodilution and procurement of autologous blood components;
cerebral edema (hyperoncotic solutions);
gastrointestinal diseases with impaired absorption or patency.
Pharmacological effect

Active ingredient
Human albumin
Composition
1 ml of solution contains human albumin 200 mg.
Contraindications
Arterial hypertension and severe heart failure.
Side Effects
In some previously sensitized patients, allergic reactions of varying severity may occur.
Complications are extremely rare in persons with a history of intolerance to internal infusions of protein preparations and other plasma substitutes, drugs, serums, and vaccines.
Interaction
With simultaneous use of albumin with ACE inhibitors, the risk of developing arterial hypotension increases.
Overdose
In case of an overdose or too rapid administration of the drug, hypervolemia may occur (development of pulmonary edema, increased arterial and central venous pressure).
At the initial signs of an anaphylactic reaction or signs of an overdose (headache, shortness of breath, suffocation), the albumin transfusion should be stopped immediately and, without removing the needle from the vein, appropriate drugs should be administered (glucocorticosteroids, vasopressors if indicated).
