🐾 Ichthyol ointment 10%, 200 g

Ichthiol ointment 10% and 20% belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of drugs for the treatment of skin diseases.

Ichthiol, which is part of the drug, has a complex composition containing aromatic compounds and ammonium salts of sulfonic acids, has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic, keratoplastic, local anesthetic effect.

Ichthyol ointment when applied to the affected skin areas causes slight irritation of the sensitive nerve endings, which is replaced by a decrease of their sensitivity, which leads to the improvement of tissue trophism. 

The ointment has a beneficial effect on the area of inflammation of the skin and subcutaneous layers, regulates the vascular tone of blood vessels and capillaries, restores blood circulation, reduces exudation, promotes resolution of infiltrates, accelerates tissue regeneration.

According to the degree of effect on the body ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% according to GOST 12.1.007-76 is a low-hazard substance (4th class of hazard).

Recommendations for use

Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% is applied externally in an even thin layer to the affected surface 1-2 times a day for 5-10 days.

To prevent small animals from licking the drug, a cervical collar is worn.

Side Effects

Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% does not cause side effects or complications in animals when used in accordance with these instructions. It is extremely rare that in animals hypersensitive to ichthyol, allergic reactions in the form of skin irritations are possible with prolonged use.

If signs of skin irritation appear, stop treatment, remove the ointment with a swab and wash off with water.

Contraindications

A contraindication to the use of ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% is the increased individual sensitivity of the animal to ichthyol.
