Antiglaucoma drug β-adrenoblocker.
Nonselective p-adrenoreceptor blocker without sympathomimetic activity.
When used topically, it lowers intraocular pressure by reducing aqueous humor formation and slightly increasing its outflow.
Lowering intraocular pressure does not affect accommodation or pupil size, so there is no deterioration in visual acuity; it does not reduce the quality of night vision.
The effect occurs 20 minutes after injection. The maximum effect is observed in 1-2 hours. The duration of action is 24 hours.
Indications
Elevated intraocular pressure, GlaucomaOpen angle glaucoma, secondary glaucoma (uveal, aphakic, posttraumatic), ocular hypertension, closed angle glaucoma (in combination with myotics).
