It has a laxative effect, which occurs after 8-10 hours. The laxative effect is due to the effect on the receptors of the large intestine, increasing peristalsis.

Indications

constipation caused by hypotension and sluggish peristalsis of the large intestine
– regulation of stool in hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.

Composition

1 tablet contains 0.07 g of senna (Alexandrium leaf) extract containing 20% of calcium salts of senosides A and B.

Excipients: lactose sugar, corn starch, vanillin, methylpa-rhaben, magnesium stearate, nipagin, stearic acid, talc.

How to take, the dosage

It is usually taken orally once a day in the evening before going to bed with water.

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet at a time. If there is no effect the dose can be increased to 2-3 tablets.

Children 6-12 years old: 1/2 tablet and, if necessary, increase the dose to 1-2 tablets.

In the process of selection the same dose should be taken for several days and gradually increase it by 1/2 tablet.

If after reaching the maximum dose within 3 days defecation does not occur, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Interaction

With long-term use of Senadexin in high doses may increase the effect of cardiac glycosides and influence on the effect of antiarrhythmic drugs due to the possibility of hypokalemia.

Simultaneous use with thiazide diuretics, glucocorticoids, licorice root preparations increases the risk of hypokalemia.

Disrupts absorption of tetracycline antibiotics.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 2 weeks.
After taking the drug, urine may turn yellow-brown or red-brown in color.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug components, spastic constipation, bowel obstruction, “abdominal pain” of unclear genesis, ruptured hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdomen, peritonitis, gastrointestinal and uterine bleeding, cystitis, disorders of water and electrolyte metabolism, children (under 6 years).

With caution – liver and/or kidney diseases, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

Laxative effect of the drug may be accompanied by colic-like abdominal pain and flatulence. During prolonged use, especially in high doses, loss of electrolytes, mainly potassium, albuminuria, hematuria, deposition of melanin in intestinal mucosa, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, urine discoloration, skin rash, seizures, vascular collapse, confusion of consciousness are possible.
