Pharmacodynamics:

The polyene antifungal antibiotic is highly active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. In the structure of the antibiotic there are double bonds with high tropicity to the sterol structures of the cell membrane of fungi, which promotes incorporation of the drug molecule into the cell membrane and formation of a large number of channels through which uncontrolled transport of electrolytes occurs; increase of osmolarity inside the cell leads to its death. Resistance develops very slowly.

Pharmacokinetics: When used topically, the drug is practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes.

Indications

Treatment and prevention (with long-term local antimicrobial therapy) of candidiasis of the vaginal mucosa.

Composition

Active ingredients:

Nystatin – 55.5 mg (250,000 IU)

Excipients:

propyl parahydroxybenzoate (nipazole) – 2.0 mg,

citric acid monohydrate – 0.075 mg,

The suppository base: Solid fat – sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weight of 2.4 g

How to take, the dosage

Vaginally. Suppository pre-released from the contour cell package with scissors (cutting the package along the contour of the suppository) is inserted into the vagina (after hygienic procedures) for 1 suppository 2 times a day (morning and evening). The course of treatment is 10-14 days.

Interaction

The simultaneous use of nystatin and clotrimazole reduces the activity of the latter.

Special Instructions

Treatment should not be interrupted during menstruation.

In case of vaginal fungal diseases, it is recommended to treat the sexual partner at the same time. During treatment it is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse.

Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and vehicles: During treatment with the drug, it is possible to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug pregnancy children under 18 years of age (there are no data on the efficacy and safety of nystatin in dosage form for intravaginal use in children).

Side effects

Local hypersensitivity reactions are possible.

Possible risk of spreading resistant forms of fungi, which requires withdrawal of the drug.

Pregnancy use

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy. Use during breastfeeding is possible because the drug is practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes, so it does not penetrate into the breast milk.
